Coming from a foreign country with little knowledge of English, Hamid’s early years in the UK were filled with both vulnerability and resilience as he navigated school, made new
friends, and tried to fit into a world that felt unfamiliar. Despite the difficulties, he persevered, embracing each challenge as an opportunity to grow.
This personal experience of vulnerability and transformation became the inspiration behind The Curious Journey of Biscuit Boy. In the story, Biscuit, a chocolate treat who transforms into a human, symbolizes the vulnerability Hamid felt as a child trying to find his identity in a new world. Biscuit’s journey of growing from a fragile biscuit to a full-fledged human mirrors Hamid’s own growth, maturity, and the courage it took to adapt and thrive in a foreign environment.
Hamid Oudi’s career spans robotics, data science, and career development. He contributed to the CORBYS project, advancing human-robot interaction in rehabilitation through cognitive robotics and multi-modal sensing.
